Snapshots in Acumen Fuse are simply a project that has been added to the workbook and represents a project in some state of progress. For example, let’s say you have a project baseline loaded into an Acumen workbook. After a month, you have an updated version of that project, and you want to compare it to the original baseline. To do this you would enter it as a snapshot of the original project.
We’ve produced a short video explaining snapshots in Acumen Fuse.
If you don’t want to watch the video, here’s a step-by-step guide as to how you use Snapshots in Acumen Fuse.
First, we’re going to start with a new workbook.
Them, in the Get External Data From tool group, click on the Oracle Primavera button and select “Single Project from a P6 XER file” as shown below in Figure 1.
We’ll be using the Ten Six training project data for this example, so we’re going to find the ‘Titan II Orbiter Baseline IMS.xer’ file. Then click Open, shown in Figure 2.
This will link the Titan II Orbiter IMS project baseline in the Acumen Workbook list (Figure 3).
Now we’re going to left click on the Titan II Orbiter IMP workbook link (Figure 4).
It must be selected. Then, click the Oracle Primavera button once more and choose Multiple Projects from a P6 XER file, shown below in Figure 5.
In the Open dialog, we navigate to our Acumen Fuse Training Data folder and use the Shift key to select all the Titan II Orbiter XER files, dated 2018-10-31 thru 2019-02-28.
Then we click Open, Figure 6.
This will load each of the monthly status updated XER files into the Workbook below the original baseline file. These are snapshots from the project at monthly intervals. And if you did that correctly you should see all the snapshots are indented from the baseline IMS.
Now click on the Import All Projects button in the Import tool group, Figure 7.
You are now ready for some trend analysis as seen below in Figure 8.
I hope this gives you some idea how to use Snapshots in Acumen Fuse. You can also see other Deltek videos by Ten Six here as well as subscribe to our YouTube channel to receive notifications of when we post a new video.
