Project Management Symposium is a two-day event at the University of Maryland, 3972 Campus Drive, College Park, MD 20742 on April 18-19, 2024.
Project Management Symposium 2024 can be attended in person as a hybrid event (choosing to participate in person on one of the days) or online. PDUs can be accumulated by attending any of the Featured Speakers or Breakout sessions. Some of the breakout sessions will only be available to delegates who are attending online, and these are marked ‘On Demand.’
Featured Speakers
Damien Peters, Professor of Product Management at the University of Maryland, will discuss ‘Data-Driven Product Management: How Companies Like Meta Drive Product Decisions with Numbers.’ Product management determines whether what we build addresses the stakeholders and users. Damien (a former product manager for Facebook) will discuss how modern tech companies use data to drive decision-making and growth.
Sabra Horne is an Entrepreneur in Residence at BMNT (a global innovation company for governments and their partners.) Sabra will offer her thoughts on ‘Using Innovation to Drive Mission Impact.’ Innovation principles can help you connect with the right stakeholders, resources, and tools to move forward quickly. Sabra will discuss how, by leveraging your ecosystem of like-minded innovators and partners to include acquisition, legal counsels, and key end users, you can reduce risk, increase speed and agility, and drive project success.
Te Wu is a PMO Advisory. Te Wu will present ‘State of Project Portfolio Management (PPM) in Practice.’ Since PPM emerged in the 1980s, project professionals have experienced variations in its practice. Due to the widening gap between research and practice, PMO Advisory initiated a study to examine the landscape of PPM practice. The research covers PPM professionals from a variety and size of organizations and levels of portfolios. Te Wu will share the results and discuss the widely diverse practice of PPM.
Dr. Bill Brantley is the President and Chief Learning Officer of Brantley Advanced Social Science Applications (BAS2A). Dr. Brantley will present ‘When Projects Manage Themselves: Artificial Intelligence- Powered Project Management’. AI can help the knowledge and skills of project managers. Dr. Brantley will discuss blending AI with the project manager’s decision-making skills. Dr. Brantley will explain why AI is better used as a GPS for project performance management by providing the data and analysis to support project managers’ crucial decisions.
