Cost Estimating
Larry Dysert is a recognized expert in project estimating. Economic evaluation is the cornerstone that forms most project decisions, and at the centre of this process is the preparation of a dependable cost estimate. Larry will present ‘Cost Estimating Best Practices to Enhance Decision Making’ Larry will explain that the preparation of thorough and reliable project cost estimates is not just a best practice but will help to maximize investment performance. Larry will discuss the comprehensive scope, documentation and the concepts of estimate accuracy to improve confidence and, ultimately, strategic judgements.
Chris Carson is a recognized thought leader in the Program/Project and Construction Management industry. Chris will present ‘Historical Cost Benching & Forecasting Escalation Costs for Estimates- What are the Reliable Resources?’ Using the scenario: an owner already has a project built somewhere in the world and is interested in the cost of a similar project in another location. Chris will provide the answer using cost benching or cost escalation indices. Chris will explain how several organizations offer historical construction costs and escalation factors. Chris will explain historical cost escalation, location factoring, and future escalation forecasting by examining reliable cost benchmarking data and escalation/location factoring data. Finally, Chris will advise using a reputable historical data organization.
New Technologies
Lisa Silander is the Global Project Controls Chair and Technical Lead at AtkinsRéalis. Michael Yun is the Senior Technical Director at AtkinsRéalis. Lisa and Michael will present Driving Technology and Innovation into Project Controls.’ Lisa and Michael will discuss how technology is available to enhance Project Controls. Lisa and Michael will offer their insights on how simple it is to introduce little changes to impact data integrity significantly, reporting and visibility in Project Controls, and enhancing delivery. They will explain how using data machine learning and analytics will provide predictability in delivery through learning from past projects, overcoming bias, and identifying unknown risks.
Orion Matthews is the Founder and CEO of Queryon. Orion will present ‘AI, Augmented Reality, and Data Analytics in Project Controls’. Orion will discuss the potential of AI, augmented reality, and data analytics technologies to enhance project efficiency and decision-making. Orion will provide practical examples of how AI and data analytics merge to provide real-time interaction with Primavera P6 project data. Orion will also demonstrate how Apple’s new Vision Pro Headset can provide visualizations and simulations, revolutionizing field reporting, project planning, safety training and on-site inspections.

Although independent, projects can influence each other’s outcomes and present unique challenges that need attention at the program level. Kamran will explain the potential of PQRAs and how they can help organizations foster proactive risk mitigation and informed decision-making.
EVM
Michael Nosbisch is the Director of Project Controls at Strategic Management Solutions LLC. Michael will present ‘Beyond the Basics: EVM for Next-Level Cost and Schedule Forecasts’. Using mini case studies, Michael will illustrate how EVM can be used to calculate a range of “trend-based” cost and schedule forecasts that are often more accurate than bottom-up estimates. Michael will discuss how EVM metrics can improve decision-making and effectively provide stakeholder forecast insights.
Project Planning /Scheduling
Dr. Saleh Mubarak is a construction Project management professor and author. Dr. Saleh will present ‘The Art of Simplified Scheduling.’ Dr. Saleh will demonstrate how to put complex projects into straightforward activities and milestones.
