This year’s PMI Houston 2023 Conference & Expo is being held on August 28 – 29, 2023. The Houston Chapter is one of the world’s largest Project Management Institute Chapters, with over 4,500 Members. Multiple industries are represented within the Houston Chapter, ranging from Engineering and Construction, Oil and Gas and Government to IT Healthcare, Education, and Service / Support Sectors.
This year’s two-day conference will be held at the Houston Marriott Westchase.

The PMI Houston 2023 Conference and Expo theme will be ‘The Way We Lead.’ There will be over twenty-seven tracks categorised into Project Leadership, Strengthening Agile Acumen, Technology Tools and AI Integration and Business Acumen and Industry Insights, as well as Keynote Speakers and networking.
Monday Keynote
John Signo, PMP. Globally, John has held over 20 ‘Brand-and Land’ sessions with PMI Chapters, helping hundreds of delegates to land their next job. In his keynote address, ‘PIE and some Golden Nuggets for your Job Search’, John will offer his insights on how information can impact people’s lives and help them grow into the best version of themselves. John will also discuss PMI certifications. As a mentor for PMP and ACP candidates, John will offer valuable advice for preparing for these exams.
Tuesday Keynote
Allana Hill, PMP, is CEO at 2 Hill Consulting Services and an international change leadership expert. Allana is the author of ‘What’s Your Catalyst? The Power of Managed Change’. Allana will present a keynote address, ’Be Their Catalyst: Driving Strategic Change in Your Team’. Allana will offer her insights on overcoming adversity, building resistance, and conveying empathy. Allana will discuss how to achieve goals through strategic planning and interpersonal skills. Allana will offer her insights on conflict resolution techniques that can improve team dynamics and performance.

Project Leadership
Benjamin Chan is Vice President of Professional Development -PMI running a Project Leadership Academy. Benjamin will present ‘Building Your Own Project Leadership Avatar for Success’ Benjamin will offer his insights on how to empower your team to perform. Benjamin will also provide tips on transforming from a Project Manager into a Project Leader.
Cindy Rowe is the CEO of Be Kind Crew and creator of the ‘Kindness Advantage’ podcast. Cindy will present ‘An Unconventional Approach: Leveraging Kindness as A Strategy for Success’ Cindy will offer her insights using evidence-based strategies that improve employee culture. Cindy will share her passion for leading change by spreading kindness across teams and communities. Cindy will discuss how kindness can positively impact the bottom line.
Scott Tillema is a trained FBI hostage negotiator with over 20 years of experience with one of the largest SWAT teams in the USA. Scott will present ‘Communication and Connection: Lessons from a Hostage Negotiator.’ Scott will offer his insights on negotiating in emotionally charged situations offering inspiring anecdotes. Scott will discuss the concepts of influence and conflict resolution.
Strengthening Agile Acumen
Jill O’ Boyle is a coach and author and hosts the ‘Your Life Your Story-Rise Up’ Podcast.
Jill will present ‘Goodbye Burnout, Hello Life:3 Productivity Habits to Work Less, Get More Done & Reignite Purpose & Productivity.’ Jill will offer her insights as a time management expert on how to move from 60+ hours per week to a 40-hour week. Jill will discuss Communication, Productivity and Purpose and how to get more done in less time, reigniting passion and freedom.
Sanjiv Augustine is CEO of LitheSpeed, LLC and the Agile Leadership Academy. Sanjiv is also the author of ‘Transitioning to Agile Project Management’ and ‘Transformational Leadership for Business Agility.’ Based on his books Sanjiv will offer his insights on ‘Breaking Through Bureaucracy – From Agile Teams to Business Agility’.
Business Acumen and Industry Insights
Danielle Gilbert is the founder of Manifest in You Consulting, LLC. Danielle will present ‘Building Inclusive Project Environments: The Essentials of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) for Organizational Transformation.’ Danielle will share her proven methodologies that can guide businesses to transform their HR practices. Danielle will offer her insights on how organizations can cultivate a positive work culture by embracing change and adopting innovative solutions.
Jack Neal is the President of QEDQ Consulting and the current President of the Houston Chapter. Jack will present ‘Business Acumen and Decision Quality in Energy Industry Front-End Project Management.’ As the founder of ‘The Decision Quality Community of Practice’ within ExxonMobil, Jack will offer his insights and valuable experience in Decision Quality and strategic planning. Jack will also discuss the scenario workshops he runs where he mentors delegates in business acumen. Finally, Jack will offer tips and tricks in business acumen.
James Del Monte is a leader in Houston IT Employment with over 30 years of experience recruiting senior-level positions like PMO’s. James will present ‘Job Search Tips and Techniques to Gain a Competitive Edge.’ James will offer his insights on the employment market and industry trends. James will also share interview techniques that can help professionals to advance their careers.
Technology Tools and AI Integration
Juan Bastos is a Project management consultant at MIGSO/PCUBED and has worked across a portfolio of different industries, including marketing and communication, government and education. Juan’s track will be ‘Don’t Let the Co-pilot Become the Pilot. Applying Proven Frameworks to Leverage AI for Enhanced Efficiency and Effectiveness in Project Management.’ Juan will offer his insights on exploring the Digital PMO and its assessment and implementation; he will discuss how to stay at the forefront of industry advancements.
Manish Kumar is a Business Process Manager at SLB. Manish is a lead at Power Hackathon and will present ‘Introduction to the Power Platform’. Manish will offer his insights on Automation Anywhere and Power Platform. After technically training 300 employees, Manish will provide advice and best practices to delegates.
Networking
Networking is available after each track, where delegates can meet up and discuss current trends and best practices. A networking happy hour event will be available on August 28th between 4.30 PM till 6.30 PM.
