The Project Management Institute is holding its PMI Global Summit on 25-28 October 2023.The PMI is the leading professional association for project management with approximately 700,000 global members, and the congress brings together project professionals of all expertise, from schedulers to project directors. PMI Global Summit will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

Before the PMI Global Summit, workshops will be available on the 23-24 October, where additional PDUs can be earned. The training workshops will be held at the OMNI Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center, 100 CNN Center NW, Atlanta, Georgia 30303.
The Format for the PMI Global Summit will be Keynote Speakers, A featured speaker, educational sessions run by industry experts, an Expo (Exhibiting Hall), networking and entertainment.
Opening Keynote
Cassandra Worthy is the author of ‘Change Enthusiasm’ and CEO of Change Enthusiasm® Global. Cassandra has over 15 years of corporate experience and Change Enthusiasm Global’s one-of-a-kind research. Cassandra will present the keynote ‘CHANGE Traits: Exploring the Critical Skills for Inspired Leadership Through Change’.
Cassandra will offer her insights on embracing uncertainty while discovering how to create and maintain growth. Cassandra will explain the steps needed to cultivate a growth mindset in the face of stressful and sometimes frustrating change. Cassandra will discuss the skills required to lead through change effectively. Cassandra will offer her insights on approaching an action plan to empower you to improve critical leadership behaviours to lead change movements.

Mohamed and Muhammad will present ‘PMO Services Unleashed: Revolutionize Your PMO Value Delivery.’ Based on a case study, Mohamed and Muhammad will offer their insights on the key elements of a PMO service catalogue. Mohamed and Muhammad will explain how the PMO catalogue maximizes value delivery to projects and the organization.
Ori Schibi, PMP, is the President of PM Konnectors. Ori will present ‘How to Perform a Real, Meaningful Stakeholder Analysis.’ Ori will offer his insights on why it is essential to perform a precise stakeholder analysis to deal with stakeholders. Ori will demonstrate a practical process for conducting a meaningful stakeholder analysis. Ori will also discuss how to engage with stakeholders, handle their needs, and manage their expectations.
Agile
Robert Pieper is the CEO of Responsive Advisors. Robert will present ‘Agile Transformation: A Strategic Approach to Managing the Change.’ Robert will offer his insights on how businesses must quickly adapt to challenges such as supply chain disruptions, pandemics, and increasing competition. Robert will explain that Agile development has offered a solution for over three decades, but there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to transitioning your business to take full advantage. Robert will discuss how to strategically and successfully transform an organization to become more flexible and agile.
Somnath Ghosh, PMP, is Amazon Web Services. Somath will present ‘Lean Portfolio Management to Align Enterprise Strategy’. Somnath will offer his insights on how a lean portfolio is a methodology that helps align strategy and execution by lean systems to support continuous value delivery. Somnath will explain how this methodology enables companies to synchronize their market strategy to meet customer needs. Somnath will discuss how to establish lean guardrails to maintain Portfolio flow.
Taiwo Abraham, PMP, is a Doctoral student at the University of Texas, and Bola Adescope, PMP, is a senior consultant at Deloitte. Taiwo and Bola will present ‘Future -Proof your Organization with Business Agility’. Taiwo and Bola will offer their insights on how business agility is a way to address challenging times while keeping up with trends and market disruptions. Taiwo and Bola will explain how business agility explores management beliefs, organization design, mindset, and working methods. Taiwo and Bola will discuss assessing an organisation and designing a new operating model while supporting the organization toward an agile transformation initiative.
Portfolio Management
Yevgeniya (Jenny) Burg, PMP, is Assistant Vice President of Enterprise Capital Project Governance at Amtrak, and Carolyn Campbell, PMP, is the Director of Project Management at Amtrack. Jenny and Carolyn will present ‘So, You Want to Run a PMO?’. Jenny and Carolyn will offer their insights on how PMO leader job expectations vary significantly. In this interactive presentation, Jenny and Carolyn will dispel any PMO leader myths and discuss what PMO leadership is about. Jenny and Carolyn will discuss the key skills for PMO leaders and explain the PMO leadership career path.
Danielle Baker, PMP, is the Director of the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office for the RLI Insurance Company and Seth Davis, PMP, is Vice President Controller for the RLI Insurance Company. Danielle and Seth will present ‘Evolution from Project Management to Enterprise Portfolio Management’. Using their company (RLI Insurance) as a case study, Danielle and Seth will offer their insights on how they evolved the Project management Office (PMO) into an enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO). Danielle and Seth will discuss the lessons learned and how the EPMO was able to drive the evolution of a project prioritization framework, including financial benefits assessment and resource capacity planning.
Yazeed Alrashed heads the corporate Projects Portfolio management Section of Public Investment Fund MENA, and Areej Naqshbandi is the Head of PMO Public Investment Fund MENA. Yazeed and Areej will present ‘Activating a PMO Center of Excellence’. Yazeed and Areej will offer their insights on the impact of activating a project management center of excellence at an organizational level. Yazeed and Areej will discuss the continuous enhancement options that a project management office (PMO) can undertake to ensure the implementation of best project management practices and promote collaboration across the organization.
Leadership Skills
James Forrester is the Chief Technology Officer at the University of Rochester Medical Centre, and Michelle Venezia, PMP, is the Senior Director of the Project Portfolio Office at the University of Rochester Medical Centre. James and Michelle will present ‘Organizational Strategy: Seeing the Forest AND the Trees’. James and Michelle will offer their insights on how successful strategic execution requires the ability to see the forest (strategic vision) and deploy the tools to plant the trees (execute the work) to ensure the forest thrives. James and Michelle will explain how creating an intentional leadership culture and empowerment of a strategic project management office (PMO) can enable strategy development and execution to deliver customer value.
Wayne Kremling, PMP, is a Senior Project Manager at Boeing. Wayne will present ‘Achieving Optimism: What? Me, Worry?’ Wayne will offer his insights on how to generate honest, natural optimism and how it will increase self-confidence. Wayne will explain how your project team perceives your optimism will sway their commitment to the project and influence their performance, whether they know it or not. Wayne will discuss the value of confidence and optimism for the project’s success.
Sally Elatta, CEO and Founder of AgilityHealth. Sally will present ‘Top Predictors of Team and Enterprise Performance.’ Sally and her team analyzed the data across 46,000 team members in AgilityHealth (4,616 agile teams). Sally will offer her insights on which specific competencies drive high performance. Sally will discuss how AgilityHealth has always believed there’s a correlation between qualitative and quantitative metrics. Sally will explain the results that identified the top five drivers for performance and share how the top teams achieved 40% higher performance over others.
Risk Management
Payson Hall, PMP, is a former US Army Ranger and a consultant Project Manager for the Catalysis Group Ltd. Payson will present ‘Why It’s Hard to Hit Your Target (and Ideas for Improvement)’ Once a schedule is baselined and up and running, Payson will discuss how challenging it may be to meet schedule commitments. Payson will offer insights into how risk contributes to the problem and how much math conspires to explode the schedule by soliciting estimates. Payson will explore reasons and remedies to help improve estimating and scheduling practices whilst identifying and reducing project risk.
Dirk Whithake, PMP, is the Business Unit Director at Frequenties AG. Dirk will present ‘Of Black Swans and Grey Rhinos: How to Handle Extreme Risks.’ Dirk will offer his insights on the importance of Black Swans management, which are low-probability but high-impact risks. Dirk will describe what black swan risks (and grey rhino risks) are and what separates them from classic project risk management. Dirk will use a case study to demonstrate how to run a black swan risk assessment project efficiently and effectively.
Nana Kwame, PMP, is the senior manager of Digital and Technology PMO at Abt. Associates. Nana will present ‘Turbocharging your Estimation process Using data you (probably) already have.’ Nana will offer his insights on collecting, organising, and utilising data generated while managing projects/programs to improve estimates. Nana will explain how to use the same data to predict future performance, set contingencies, manage risk, and incentivize project teams to improve.
Featured Speaker
Armida Ascanso is the Chief Content Officer at Trend Hunter. Armida will present ‘Forecasting Micro-Generational Desire.’ Armida will offer insights into the nine micro-generations’ formative years using impactful global events, media, and pop culture. Armida will explain who each group is today and what trends will be relevant to them over the next three to five years. Armida will provide a reusable framework behind all four generations and describe future opportunities.
Closing Keynote
Chris Barton founded Shazam, an app that identified songs out of thin air. Chris was told that his dreamy idea would be impossible. His dream led to a $400 million acquisition by Apple. Chris will present ‘Disrupt your Thinking: Bring Impossible Ideas to life.’ In this inspiring keynote, Chris will offer his insights on the ‘Start from Zero’ approach and how to think in ways that are different from our default ways of thinking. Chris will discuss how to challenge and broaden your perspective on using artificial intelligence. Chris will explain how to recognize and overcome barriers with creative persistence.
Exhibit Hall, Networking and Entertainment
Vendors will offer hands-on demonstrations of the latest solutions and services. They will be available to discuss best practices, offer advice and discuss the latest trends. The main stage will be open, where you can find out the latest on how AI will impact Project Management.
Networking opportunities will be available in the Expo and after each track, where colleagues can meet up and discuss best practices, the latest trends, and the current track. Seven excursions to different sights around Atlanta will be available during the Summit, where friends and colleagues can enjoy the sights and network in a relaxing atmosphere. PMI will also provide a reception on October 26 between 5.45 and 8.00 p.m.

We reviewed two top hotels close to the Georgia World Congress Center, the Reverb by Hard Rock Hotel and The American Hotel a Double Tree by Hilton.
Reverb by Hard Rock Atlanta Downtown, 89 Centennial Olympic Park Drive Northwest, Atlanta, GA 30303. The Reverb is a modern 4-star hotel approximately 0.4 miles from the Georgia World Congress Center. The beds are comfortable with mood under bed lighting and an Alexa in each room. The hotel is spotlessly clean, and the staff have been described as “beyond amazing”. At the weekend, there is a DJ on the rooftop and in the lobby. A two-night stay costs $613.00.
The American Hotel Atlanta Downtown – a Doubletree by Hilton, 160 Ted Turner Dr NW, Atlanta, GA 30303. The American is a historic 3-star hotel approximately 0.3 miles from the Georgia World Congress Center. The American has a chic retro vibe steeped in Atlanta history. It is decorated in the late 1950s and early 1960s style with classic décor and memorabilia. The hotel is clean, and the staff pride themselves on providing excellent hospitality. A two-night stay costs $597.
