At the Deltek Insight conference in Nashville last week, Deltek announced some projected timelines for when the new IPMR formats will be appearing in wInsight 3.4 and provided some details about provisions made in the tool to accommodate them.
For the timeline, Deltek are projecting that IPMR Formats 1 through 5 will be available in November and Format 7 should appear sometime around February.
EVMS Acceptance
A new field will be available in the wInsight Administrator’s CPR Header table called Evms. This will allow you to select from the following options:
0 – Blank
1 – Yes
2 – No
3 – Not Applicable
The date entered in the EvmsAppr field will appear on the report if either Yes or No is selected in the Evms field.
Format 1 Report Changes
For the Format 1 report, the wInsight XML export feature has been modified to export performance data in whole units to support the 2012 DID requirement.
Format 2 Report Changes
The NAFlag field in the wInsight Administrator’s Earned Value spreadsheet will be used to define Subcontractor and Material costs as ‘add’ (included in the body data) or ‘non-add’ in the IPMR Format 2 report.
Format 3
The import/export feature has been modified to handle time-phase changes entered in the Changes spreadsheet. There’s also a new option in the BOP/EOP spreadsheet that allows both hours and dollars to be entered.
Format 7
Format 7 is an entirely new format report that is provided to the customer in an XML format and will be added to wInsight early next year; as shown in the previous timeline graphic. It will be possible to both import and export a format 7 report using the wInsight Administrator.
Looking forward a little further into wInsight’s future, it was announced at the Insight conference that Deltek are in the processes of redesigning and then rebuilding wInsight from the ground up. It will be a totally new product and will be able to take advantage of all the new technology’s available. In much the same way that Cobra benefited from its major rebuild back in 2009, we are hoping that this effort will bring a new and exciting version of wInsight to the market and look forward to seeing the first versions.
