As you may know, Deltek have been releasing Cobra hotfixes on a monthly basis more or less since Cobra version 5.1 hit the streets. Each month, those of us in need of a life here at Ten Six check through the release notes to see what’s new and report any outstanding improvements we find and want to share with you.
This month, HotFix 15, build 5.01.517 released on July 3rd brings 24 new fixes to such components as the Integration Wizard, user security, CPR Reports and calendar functions as well as adding some new details to topics in the online help system. However, the fix that the caught my interest this time concerns the wInsight Wizard; largely because it corrects something that’s been driving me nuts since 5.0 SP2.
Have you ever seen this error when exporting your project to the wInsight XML file?
[Error] Errors found while getting data from Fiscal Calendar Set 09: Only found 7 flagged periods. Data will not be exported.
Note: calendar set 09 became 19 when Cobra 5.0 was released but the message was still reporting the Cobra 4.7 numbering convention. This error would prevent the export from completing. It also meant that the six month forecast and specified periods sections of the reports have missing or incorrect header labels as shown in the following figure. If you’re CDRLS call for CPR Format 3 or Format 4 reporting, you’d be updating the calendar flags and labels anyway. If not, this error was a total pain in the backside.
The Good News
In Hotfix13, Deltek switched this to being just a warning if fewer than nine flagged periods were present, allowing the XML file to be generated without having to go in and modify the calendar set. In Hotfix 15 the warning has been modified again because Cobra wouldn’t export data if fewer than six consecutive periods were flagged.
With the number of times I would forget to modify the calendar set and then have one of those “oh for goodness sake” moments right at the end of running through the wInsight wizard, this is a welcome improvement. As a warning it works well because I can still get the data out to wInsight – suffering only a polite reminder that I forgot something.
Now the warning looks like this; they even fixed the incorrectly reported calendar set number.
