[Warning]Invalid cost set CV and [Warning]Invalid cost set SV
in Deltek Cobra, you may see the message “[Warning]Invalid cost set” in the log report when running a CPR Format 1.
Symptoms:
This generally happens whenever you create a new project in Deltek Cobra and run the first CPRs. You’ll see the report wizard display a message stating that the report completed with 2 warnings.
In the log you will find two warning entries as shown in the example below:
Process Name: Report
User: System Administrator
Start Time: 12/18/2011 02:24:51 PM
Project: DEMO
DLL Version: 5.1.61
[Warning]Invalid cost set CV
[Warning]Invalid cost set SV
Creating FSC file
Defining Result Calculations
Building SQL select statement
Selecting from database
Writing to report tables
Ordering results
Process completed.
Finish time: 12/18/2011 02:24:52 PM
Errors: 0
Warnings: 2
Reason:
The CV and SV cost classes are used to populate the Reprogramming Adjustments values (columns 12a and 12b) in the CPR Format reports. However they are not default cost classes and therefore do not appear in the Cost Classes list for newly created projects. You will need to add them to the project to remove the warnings or prior to any replanning or OTB operations.
Solution:
Add the two cost sets to the new project. Here’s how:
- In the Projects tab, select the project.
- Open the Project Information dialog.
- Click on the Cost Sets tab.
- Click in the New button.
- Add a Cost Set named CV and (optionally) give it a description of Cost Variance.
- Click the New button again.
- Add a Cost Set named SV and (optionally) give it a description of Schedule Variance.
- Click the OK button to close the Project Information dialog and save your changes.
You don’t need to define other attributes for the CV and SV cost sets. These will prevent any further warnings of this nature in your report wizard’s log for the current project.
Keep in mind if you create a new project in Deltek Cobra, you will need to create the CV and SV cost sets again, or even better, you can copy the cost sets from other projects that already have them defined. This is done using the Copy Classes button on the Cost Classes dialog. Click here to see our blog – Copying Deltek Coba Cost Sets for more details.
