Great news for Deltek Acumen users and those considering buying Acumen. Deltek releases Acumen version 7.0 today and it is available to all customers, both existing and new! There are some great new features and enhancements that help project teams deliver more realistic and achievable plans.
Deltek Acumen New Features and Enhancements
Risk Register Mitigation Analysis
After you have created risk mitigation steps, you can use the new Risk Register Mitigation Analysis to run risk analysis with mitigation for the selected risk event to compare mitigation steps.
Risk Register Mitigation Analysis
Acumen runs the analysis on each mitigation step one-at-a-time then displays a Mitigation Steps chart that shows you how the mitigation affects the schedule.
Import and Report on Multiple Hierarchical Codes
By default, activities are grouped by WBS. For Primavera, Open Plan, and MSP projects, Acumen now allows you to import and report on multiple hierarchical codes.
This allows you to group data in different ways and is useful when mapping uncertainty and risks, analyzing data, and for reporting. Because Acumen stores mappings at the detailed task level, you don’t have to re-analyze the data each time you group by a different hierarchical code.
Microsoft Project Server Integration
Acumen now allows you to link to and import data from Microsoft Project Server (PWA). Microsoft Project Server linking supports:
- Cost, schedule, risk, and earned value integration by default
- Custom field mapping (normal, code, and user-defined fields)
Prorating Metrics
You can now turn metric prorating on or off. If the Prorating field on the Metrics tab is On (default), the Phase Analyzer on the S2 // Diagnostics tab takes time periods into account when it analyzes activities. If Prorating is Off, the Phase Analyzer ignores time periods when it analyzes activities.
Prorating Metrics
Export from Any Format to Open Plan
Acumen now exports all data (except user-defined fields) directly to Open Plan. This does assume that you have Open Plan installed on the same machine.
Create Snapshots with the Same Name as the Baseline Project
You can create snapshots with the same name as the baseline project for Microsoft Project Server, Deltek Open Plan, and Primavera P6 projects. For example, if you import a project named Impact and then create a project snapshot, the snapshot will be named Impact2.
Summary
In short, a great update which goes way beyond the usual fixes some updates deliver. Existing users will no doubt upgrade immediately and version 7.0 makes it an even more attractive proposition to new users.
Anyone who wants to increase predictability in their plans and deliver a successful program that is on time and within budget should welcome Deltek Acumen’s features and capabilities.
