A brief look at some key fixes
For those of you who haven’t heard, Deltek released HotFix #03 for Cobra 5.1 on July 1st. This HotFix addresses well over a dozen items, a few of which there weren’t workarounds for. These include performance issues with the Data Conversion tool and Code Views with large numbers of Code Files and other issues such as the incorrect exporting of Control Account codes from the wInsight Wizard.
I’m pleased to see this HotFix because some of the items it addresses have been biting me in the rear end for a while; to such an extent in one case, that one of my customers has been delaying upgrading from 5.0 to 5.1 until these items were addressed.
The main item in question here was a rather disturbing case of the Integration Wizard crashing when one used it to create the target project in Cobra. The workaround was to either create a shell project first and load your project schedule data into that, or change a setting in the Data Access tab of the Tools | Configure dialog. The Project lock setting: field defaults to ‘Process’ and needed to be changed to ‘Control Account’ in order to stop the Wizard crashing.
Couple this with a fix that appeared in Cobra 5.1, HotFix #01 (Build 5.01.193), namely the fact that the wInsight Wizard crashed when you used an existing configuration, and you have a rather compelling reason to make the update from Cobra 5.0 (Build 5.00.845) to Cobra 5.1 (Build 5.01.246).
These are just a couple of examples of the items that have been addressed in the HotFix #03 release. You can see the full list in the DeltekCobra51HotFix03Readme.pdf available on the Deltek Customer Care site.
As usual the HotFix installs are cumulative so you just need to install the latest one to get all the fixes from prior releases. Happy upgrading folks.
