Oracle plans to release Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management (EPPM) 16.2 within the next few weeks. While it may take many organizations time to get around to upgrading to 16.2, many users will be clamoring to see what’s in this next release of Primavera P6 EPPM. So, here’s a sneak peak at what we can expect to see in this upcoming release.
HTML5 Views
For many Primavera P6 EPPM users and administrators alike, the march towards HTML5 replacing Java cannot come too soon. Primavera P6 EPPM R16.2 continues that journey with the addition of new HTML5 views to replace the following:
- User Administration
- Resource Administration
- Enterprise Data
- Issues
- Time Approval
- Team Usage
- Resource Analysis
Some of these views are more heavily used than others, but clearly Oracle are doing their best to eject Java from Primavera P6 EPPM which is really excellent news!
Daily Timescale in all Resource Analysis Views
Daily Timescale in all Resource Analysis views is a nice enhancement as before it was limited to weeks/months. Many users will welcome the more detail the daily timescale brings.
Improved P6 Cloud Connect Performance
Improved P6 Cloud Connect performance via local repository will help reduce user frustration by addressing performance issues.
Visualizer Speed Improvements
Enhanced Visualizer performance – any folks have complained about the performance of Visualizer, so they will take whatever speed improvements they can get.
Summary
We can expect R16.2 to be a nice ‘point’ release by Oracle with the move away from Java being the most significant part of the release. Oracle is also hosting a webinar to introduce and discuss these new features so folks have a chance to learn about the new enhancements in Primavera P6 EPPM 16.2.
