Oracle Primavera P6 Analytics is a relatively new module and is still largely unexplored by the Primavera user community. So what exactly does it do? It is designed to help senior management make better and more informed decisions about their project portfolios by giving insight into the organizations project portfolio performance.
It’s all web based and looks great, so there should be no management resistance to adding this capability to your organization. If anything, the resistance will come from lower down in the organization with staff who would not want senior management to have greater visibility into their project performance. But that’s another issue all together and probably already exists to one extent or another if your management team is currently using detailed and accurate information from your Primavera P6 implementation.
Intelligent Views
Primavera P6 Analytics comes prepackaged with more than 80 analytic views and dashboards that have a lot of flexibility due to using Oracle’s Business Intelligence technology built on top of the Primavera P6 Reporting Database. Because of this, you can integrate data from other corporate systems into the same dashboard view, for example; include financial and customer information along side portfolio performance information. You can also create your own dashboard views to include KPI’s and other measurement of performance metrics. As it runs on top of the Primavera P6 Reporting Database, It’s also easy to create and run ad hoc queries which will not affect the performance of your live system.
To make implementation easier, you can use your existing security and permissions that you have set up in Primavera P6. This also makes sure that only the people with the right privileges are able to use the dashboards, protecting sensitive project and portfolio information.
One cool feature is that you can print any of the dashboard views and better still, export them to PDF, Microsoft Word®, Microsoft Excel®, Microsoft PowerPoint®, HTML and others.
Using Primavera P6 Analytics will help you better identify issues and uncover trends, revealing valuable insights into project and program performance.
