Evaintheuk, known as EVA#33 (as it is in its thirty-third year), will be held as a two-day conference, on April 28 and 29 at Armourers Hall, 81 Coleman St, Moorgate, London EC2R 5BJ. The theme for this year’s conference will be putting the EV into AchiEVement, with a day focused on controls and another on skills and people.
EVA#33 is an independent conference run by Steve Wake, who is passionate about EVM and previously founded the EVM and Project Management Controls SIGs while serving as chairman of the Association for Project Management (APM).

Controls and how they are deployed
Andrew Edkins is a Professor Emeritus in Management of Complex Projects at The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction, UCL. Andrew will present his thoughts on ‘Messy projects-so what?’. Andrew will reflect on the current project landscape and the context in which these projects are set. Andrew will reveal what the implications are for project management.
Adrian Pyne of Pyne Consulting Ltd. is the author of books on program management and agile governance and assurance. Adrian has also contributed to the Program and Portfolio standards. Adrian will present ‘Strangers in a Strange Land – How organizations kill projects and how they can be helped to thrive’.
Adrian will outline why project failure often seems inevitable. Adrian will discuss why change is crucial and what the changes could be.
Val Jonas is a risk expert at Risk Ecosystems Ltd., working with business leaders to develop their risk vision. Val is also a BSI/ISO committee member, appointed as a risk expert to working groups writing and updating practical guides and standards in the ISO 21500 series and associated BSI standards for project, program and portfolio management.
Val will present ‘Shine on you crazy diamond.’ Never a dull moment with risk. Is that an AchiEVement? Val will reveal aspects of being a risk manager, including solving problems across different projects, sectors and technologies.
Graham Clarke MBE is a Director of Profolio Ltd, where he supports leaders in the design and delivery of portfolios. Graham will present ‘Portfolio mismanagement: a public sector case study’
Stephen Powell is Chief of Project Management capability at Rolls-Royce. Stephen is responsible for strategically managing resources, skills and workload to deliver complex aerospace, defense and power systems projects. Stephen will present ‘EVM within Rolls-Royce, the transatlantic differences.

Ben Fitzgerald is the Associate Director of Project Controls at AECOM. Ben will road test BS202001, the new Project Controls Specification standard, on a real project.

Luke and Paul will offer their thoughts on ‘Measuring success objectively’. Luke and Paul will investigate how subjectivity and emotion can be removed by sticking to the facts and how this can relate to project success.
Kym Henderson, Project Leader of ISO TC258 (the international standard for Project, Programme, and Portfolio Management), which has led to the second edition of ISO/BS 21508 for EVM. Kym will discuss the new standard, which will be released in April 2026, during his presentation, ‘Putting the EVintoAchiEVement, plugging the gaps and joining the dots in Project Controls’.
Kym will discuss how the new ISO could influence future practice and training across global projects and portfolios.
Pari Mathur is a consultant at 3rdcurve. After completing her MSC in Project and Enterprise Management at the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction, UCL, Pari joined 3rdcurve. During her presentation, ‘TheWorkquake is coming – are you setting up the next generation for success?’
Pari will explain how her collaborative leadership style enables teams to navigate change, advancing 3rdcurve’s digital mission and AI adoption strategy.
Sirish Parekh is Head of Estimating & Benchmarking for the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority (NISTA), Co-Chair of the Public Sector Advisory Community for Estimating (PsACE) and co-chair of the British Standards Institution (BSi) Estimating workgroup. Sirish will present ‘Adaptive Estimating-Changing the estimating mindset’.
Sirish will reveal his approach to estimating that prioritizes adaptive living documents over static outputs, fostering a collaborative process throughout the project life cycle.
