OK Cobra jockeys, uncork that bottle of 1962 Dom Perignon Oenotheque that you’ve got stashed away in the cellar, spark up the Havana cigars and cancel your room at the Betty Ford Clinic for the terminally short of patience: Deltek has released Cobra 5.1 HotFix 7. Why all the excitement on the part of the Cobra Guy? Well, with this gem comes the saving of your columns in the Projects view. Allow me to say “BRAVO” in an annoyingly load voice.
Yes it’s true – I’ve tested it. What’s more, it saves the arrangement of columns in your Projects tab against the projects themselves, automatically. So you can set each project up with a different arrangement of columns and they stick like Gorilla Glue. It also retains the column widths you set; a nice touch, and survives all the old scramblers such as Update Totals, recalcs and reboots of the software. So far I haven’t been able to disrupt the arrangement with any functions I’ve attempted. So I think this one is in the bag, Peeps.
As usual, I recommend you take a trip up to Deltek’s Customer Care web site and check it out for yourself. The HotFix 7 Readme PDF file outlines eight other fixes for this release; curiously not mentioning this one. So my thanks to Deltek for helping me retain my sanity in the coming months and not having to explain the issue to every new customer I work with. You’ve got to hand it to those folks at Deltek, it may take them a little time, but they always come through for us in the end. Thanks guys and keep up the good work.
