Deltek ProjectCon 2024Deltek ProjectCon 2024 is holding its annual conference from November 12 to 14 at the Gaylord Hotel in Washington, D.C. Over 3,500 project professionals and enthusiasts are expected to attend. ProjectCon celebrates all of Deltek’s products and is an event for Deltek users. Often, new updates and releases are announced.

Deltek ProjectCon is offering Pre-Conference Workshops, a Welcome Keynote (with Deltek’s new CEO), an Innovation Keynote, two featured speakers and over 300 tracks.

Pre-Conference Workshops

Pre-conference workshops will be held on Tuesday, November 12. The three-hour classroom-style workshops will have a maximum of twenty-five delegates and run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. In-depth training sessions will be available for AJera, Costpoint, ComputerEase, TIP, Unionpoint and VantagePoint customers.

Bob Hughes will take the stage for the first time as Deltek’s new President and CEO. Bob will present Deltek’s business strategy and vision for the future.

Innovation Keynote

Warren LinscottDinakar HituvalliWarren Linscott, Executive, Chief Product Officer, Deltek andDinakar Hituvalli, Executive, Chief Technology Officer. Warren and Dinakar will showcase Deltek’s product innovations.

Warren and Dinakar will highlight Deltek Dela, the new AI-powered intelligent business companion. They will discuss its benefits, which include increased productivity and growth for any organization.

José Hernández - Deltek ProjectCon 2024José Hernández, a former NASA astronaut, will present ‘Reaching for Your Own Stars: A Recipe to Success’. José will share his story of picking grapes as a migrant farmworker with his father and aspiring to become the first Mexican in space.

José will explain that with perseverance, resourcefulness, and his six key ingredients for success, anyone can be inspired to dream big and reach their potential.

Jason DorseyJason Dorsey, a Generational and Behavioural Trends Expert, will present ‘Crossing the Generational Divide.’ Jason will separate the myth from the truth about the different generations, discussing what unlocks their performance most.

Jason will offer tips on how to lead different generations simultaneously. Jason will explain specific ways to bridge the generational divide and reveal customized actions to drive measurable outcomes quickly.

Tracks, Tracks, Tracks

Product Updates

In all of the product update tracks, delegates can interact with the Deltek product manager, ask questions, and provide feedback. They can also learn about new feature releases and planned enhancements.

Project Portfolio Management Kick-off
The PPM product experts will offer the PPM’s strategy and roadmap priorities for long-term plans. This session is designed to provide a clear understanding of the PPM’s future direction and how it aligns with delegates’ long-term project management goals. It will also offer the background for any of the following individual product updates, ensuring that delegates are well-prepared for the rest of the conference.

Deltek Open Plan Tips and Tricks
Deltek will explain what features have been added to Open Plan over the last few years, discuss what’s new, and determine whether an upgrade is required to increase capabilities. Deltek will support Open Plan users by discussing some of its more advanced functionalities. Delegates can discuss how to get the most out of Open Plan to manage better and share schedule data.

PPM Administrator
A new web administrator is coming to the Deltek Project Portfolio Management (PPM) suite. Deltek will preview the latest tool and demonstrate how the new web application supports the current PPM products and processes.

Two Deltek professionals will chair a customer panel. In this interactive session, several customers who use the PPM tools will share their case studies, best practices, and lessons learned. Complex challenges will be discussed and how they were managed. They will describe how they leverage Earned Value Management (EVM) and identify opportunities for improvements with their EVM solution.

Fireside Chat with Deltek Project Information Management (PIM) and the PIM Product Team
The PIM product management team and some Deltek PIM customers will explain how they have benefited from Deltek PIM in their businesses. In this interactive session, delegates can ask the team or PIM customers questions summitted through the Deltek Idea Portal, receiving answers with practical tips and tricks.

Omar Gonzalez and Eric Lusis, Senior Directors at Aecon Construction Group, Inc. Omar and Eric will discuss how Aecon utilizes Acumen Fuse. The developed Acumen Project Maturity Framework (APMF) enhances schedule management through advanced analytics and diagnostic capabilities, allowing for quick identification and resolution of scheduling issues and ensuring that projects adhere to their timelines and objectives.

Omar and Eric will reveal that the APMF ensures that schedules are critiqued, optimized, validated and supported by the entire project team, leading to a more robust and reliable scheduling process. Finally, Omar and Eric will discuss how Acumen Fuse has improved project performance, risk management, and overall success in project delivery at Aecon.

How Deltek Cobra Supports the Network Rail TRU Program
Laura Vigors, Associate Director, Arcadis and John Bennett, Business Unit Director, Deltek. The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) program is a multi-billion-pound long-term infrastructure program aimed at improving connectivity in the North of the U.K. Laura and John will explain how Deltek Cobra underpins the cost and performance of the TRU.

Laura and John will reveal how they deployed Cobra in this infrastructure project within a vast geographic and customer operation and how they produce program-wide reporting through consistent Cobra code files for multiple stakeholders. Laura and John will offer practical examples of how Cobra reporting is configured to meet customer requirements.

How integrated is Your Integrated Master Schedule?
During this session, Deltek will offer an overview of what an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) is and what components are required to ensure a quality IMS. Deltek will explain why having an IMS is beneficial and how the components work together with the project schedule to support the management of a project. They will provide examples of how to integrate changes into an IMS, including ways to verify the accuracy and quality of submitted IMS component schedules.

A Day in The Life of a Risk
The Deltek team will follow the path of a project risk throughout the PPM toolset. They will reveal how to identify risks and track mitigation options. They will explain which risks are most likely to drive schedule delays or cost overruns and discuss what will happen to the schedule progression if we can limit the impact of those risks.

From simple delay impact analysis to more complex risk modelling, this session will provide a guided approach to keeping schedule and cost models realistic and on time/budget while showing various options in the PPM tools to create and track workflows related to specific risks or mitigation efforts.

A Day in the Life of a Project
Continuing the theme, the Deltek team will explore various methods for incorporating project change after finding the risk and having approval to apply mitigating steps. Using the PPM software suite, the team will demonstrate the progression of a project change, track how this change impacts other items in the project data set and provide reporting options to share the results of this change management process.

Empowering Teams with Dashboards and Resource Management
Aaron Askew, Director of Resource Development, Moody Nolan, Inc. Aaron will demonstrate how to use dashboards to provide leadership and project managers with real-time insights for better decision-making.

Aaron will offer strategies for effective resource management to ensure proper staff assignment and maximize efficiency. These practical examples and strategies will enhance team performance.

Harnessing Purposeful AI to Transform Deltek PPM: A Collaborative Discussion on Innovation
During this interactive session, Deltek professionals will delve into the AI and Generative AI (GenAI) capabilities of Deltek Dela and explore how it has the potential to revolutionize project planning, resource allocation, risk management, and decision-making processes.

Deltek will explain how A.I. and GenAI can be integrated into the PPM software, offering new benefits to the project management processes. Delegates will be able to see the effects of how GenAI can generate new ideas and innovative solutions to help with complex project challenges. Deltek will explain how AI can support strategic decision-making by providing data-driven insights and recommendations, leading to better project outcomes.

DCMA Independent Insight and Earned Value Management Program Surveillance and Analysis with Carissa Fox, Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) Program Support Training Manager. Clarissa will explain that DCMA has Federal Acquisition Requirements (FAR) to provide Contract Administrative Services (CAS) to the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSD{A&S}) and Service stakeholders.

To provide FAR with any cost/schedule projections, the DCMA uses Earned Value Management (EVM). Clarissa will discuss fulfilling (FAR) requirements by analyzing contractor data and adjusting by applying identified risks in the cost and schedule.
