As part of the new 2012 IPMR DID, Deltek have been busy making updates to all their IPM tools including MPM. For those of you not completely familiar with the particulars of this new DID, you can view our blog EVM Reporting Changes – The IPMR DID Now in Effect.
Briefly the new DID brings all the old CPR Format reports under a single DID and adds a new XML format to the mix. The old CPR formats will now be known as IPMR formats. For the most part the layouts are basically the same, with some header changes and minor changes to the body content. CPR Format 3 will see the most change with the opening up of block 6.b for baseline change content. IPMR Format 6 will be the IMS and the new IPMR Format 7 is an XML export not dissimilar to the type of XML used for wInsight imports and exports.
At the Deltek Insight conference this week, we learned when and how the MPM tool’s reports will be modified to meet the new DID requirements.
As you can see from the above table we can expect to see formats 1, 2 and 4 released for MPM 3.4 sometime this month, with format 3 arriving in November. The new IPMR Format 7 XML export capability will be with us in February of next year.
Changes to the software in order to support the DID changes or new elements are fairly minor. For MPM an option will be added to allow a N/A selection for the EVMS acceptance date in the Format 1 header. An option to show performance data in hours only is being added to all formats. On the Report Conditioning page the “Include Hours” option will be called “Hours or Dollars” and you will be able to show and notate Cost of Money (COM) as a non-add value.
