Goodrich ISR Systems began as an aerial survey company, pioneering the relatively new field of aerial photography and mapping, through World War II, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the first space-based reconnaissance system, the U-2, and the Vietnam conflict, and into the current war on terrorism. Goodrich ISR Systems has played an important role in every major conflict involving the United States and its Allies.
Goodrich ISR Systems has over 85 years of experience providing mission critical systems that contribute to some of the most significant advances in air, space and imaging technology for military customers.
Challenge
Goodrich ISR Systems had just gone through a major replanning exercise on five projects, all of which required an Earned Value Management System (EVMS). Although Goodrich had been utilizing Earned Value Management (EVM) for some time, they had not experienced a replanning exercise of this scale.
Ten Six Approach
Ten Six recommended a series of Deltek Cobra training classes, including advanced topics together with consulting support. Specifically, we assisted in:
- Setup new Cobra projects and then loaded replanned schedules from Microsoft Project.
- Loaded cumulative actuals for the replanned projects.
- Performed a single point adjustment on the projects at the current status date.
- Validated and verified that the new budget hours matched those in the Microsoft Project schedule.
This was done for five major projects that had undergone replanning efforts in the schedules. It required that Ten Six designe the replanning process steps in order to ensure a repeatable model for future projects.
Results
Ten Six was able to get the replanned projects into Goodrich’s EVMS, producing accurate monthly reporting that was accepted by Goodrich ISR Systems clients. Ad hoc mentoring and coaching continued after the initial assignment in order to address any knowledge gaps and issues that arose.
