We recently published an article on the Primavera P6 EPPM Projects Tab that you can read here.
Several folks have contacted us wanting to know some more about the project tab and the pages associated with it, so we’ve produced a short video where you can get a feel of the capabilities and functionality of these features by browsing the video at your leisure.
In summary, the Primavera P6 EPPM Projects tab stores all the data regarding projects. Different pages within the Projects tab offer differing information about a project when it is open, and help the user to manage the project for a successful outcome. Opening projects are performed in the Enterprise Project Structure (EPS), where projects are stored in nodes and where access to the different projects can be restricted for the user only or the project team.
The information of any open project is primarily stored on the Activities page, as activities deliverables or milestones. All Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) elements are listed and some resource assignments may be shown. With the aid of a Gantt chart, users can view the relationships between activities and review milestones throughout the project.
Resources can be managed in the Team Usage page, where each resource involved in the project are listed. By highlighting and selecting a resource, users can instantly view the actual units a resource has worked, the remaining allocated units a resource has left to work, and whether a resource is over-allocated.
The histogram that displays this information pictorially helps the user to instantly see a clear picture of any given resource. The Limit line which runs above the histogram allows the user to see whether the resource is adhering to budget constraints or not.
