The Construction CPM Conference 2020 will be held on January 19-22. This conference will offer a welcoming day on Sunday, January 19th followed by three full days of study and presentations and training at the Critical Path Method (CPM) and Schedule Analysis. President-Elect for AACE
Chris Caddell is President-elect for AACE and Senior Vice President at Turner & Turner. Approximately 40% of delegates at the Construction CPM Conference (CCC) are members of the Association for Advancement of Cost Engineers International (AACE). Whilst CCC’s goal is to educate and train, AACE’s primary goal is to bring forth new knowledge and subject for peer review and debate. In his keynote address, Chris will offer his insights on how the construction industry needs both the AACE and CCC, hoping to inspire the other 60% of the conference to join the ACCE.

Steve Maleaszecki, Vice President of Envision, will offer his insights on using Primavera Risk Analysis (PMA) formally known as Primavera Pertmaster. Steve will demonstrate how PMA provides a comprehensive means of determining confidence levels for project success and how quick and easy techniques provides the contingency for risk response plans.
Critical Path Analysis with Oracle P6; Hidden Features
Jonathan Japka, PMP will offer his insights on performing Critical Path analysis with P6. Jonathan will present a live demonstration on how to handle multiple milestones and multiple calendars explaining what is important to display and what’s not. Jonathan will demonstrate how to format reports to display the critical paths simply and effectively.
Using Primavera P6 EPPM-Tips and Tricks
Charlie Jackson, Vice President of Project Life Span, LLC and Hannah Schumacher of Sundt Construction Inc will offer their insights on how many contract documents are now requiring the use of the latest version of Primavera software (P6™) due to its enterprise capabilities and its use of latest technologies including the capabilities to interact other software applications; therefore schedulers need to understand how to use this software efficiently to complete their projects in a timely manner. Primavera’s latest release of P6™ contains many features that can assist in developing schedules quickly and efficiently. Both Charlie and Hannah will both offer their lessons learned regarding the effective use of P6 ™ in the schedule development process as they apply to the planning and scheduling development processes.
One to One Software Clinic
Oracle will hold one to one sessions for support or help with Primavera P6 or any other products that Oracle support. These sessions will be 30 minutes and are booked on a first-come-first-served basis.
Avoid Out-of-Sequence Progress in Microsoft Project
Thomas Boyle, PMP will offer his insights on why users should minimize or avoid out of sequence progress. Thomas will explain how recording Actual dates that violate existing schedule logic can cause conflicts in Microsoft Project’s internal schedule calculations, especially in Microsoft Project (MSP) 2016. Thomas will offer his insights on the MSP software versions which display Total Slack values and Critical task flags which can be incorrect and misleading.
Really Understanding Microsoft Project
Ron Winter PSP, is the author of Schedule Analyzer Software. Ron, in his advanced presentation, will offer his insights on how to use MSP in place of P6 or other scheduling software. Love it or hate it MSP is here to stay and many construction contracts are mandating its use. Ron will explain how most people using MSP on construction projects find that MSP is fine for planning the work but very difficult to use when maintaining the status and accurately forecasting project completion. Ron will offer his insights on how you can ‘make’ MSP properly reflect complicated status including out-of-sequence progress resembling Retained Logic.
Deltek Acumen Release 8.2: How to Check Reliability
Tom Polen is a Solutions Architect for Deltek who specializes in risk management. CPM schedules are excellent at providing a completion forecast based on the planned duration and sequence of work. However, they fall short in accounting for external risk events. Tom will offer his insights on improving project maturity by identifying and reducing project risk exposure through project risk analysis. Tom in this interactive presentation will demonstrate how Deltek Acumen Risk and Risk book combines the accuracy of Monte-Carlo risk analysis with a straightforward, user experience to simplify this process.
Open Plan Release 8.2: Out of the Box to 1st Report
Rob Edwards, Product Director for Deltek will demonstrate how to download Open Plan software from Deltek’s website to delivery of the first update report to management of the Contractor and the Owner.
Deltek Acumen 8.2: Predicting Faster Project Timelines & Recovering Delays
Tom Polen, Deltek, the uncertainty and risk of constraints of time, cost, and scope and unexpected delay are all factors that can force a project to come in late and over budget. Tom will demonstrate how with the help of Deltek Acumen Risk & 360 faster project timelines can be predicted and delays can be recovered.

Tom will explain the industry-proven standards and user-defined metrics in Fuse that help establish the high-quality schedule required for project success
Introduction to Phoenix Project Planner
Jay Poulsen, President of Phoenix Project Management, will demonstrate the use of Phoenix Project Manager; how to create and maintain project schedules. Jay will offer his insights on how to migrate current scheduling efforts from Primavera or other enterprise platforms to Phoenix. Jay will also discuss the future direction and development of the Phoenix Project Manager.
How to complete a 4-hour planning session in 40 minutes
Reniz Moosa PMP is a Senior Associate of PMA Consultants. Non- Schedulers can become overwhelmed when analysing schedules that have countless activities. In this interactive presentation, Reniz will offer his insights on how to summarize large schedules with over 10,000 activities using P6 or MS Project. Reniz will also offer his insights on how to communicate schedule-related issues so that the information is easily understood by senior management and executives.
Over 40 vendors will be available showcasing their products. Delegates will be able to experience hands-on demonstrations as well as asking the vendors tips and tricks about their products.
Networking and Entertainment
Networking is scheduled throughout the four days where delegates can meet up with colleagues to make new contacts discuss best practices with industry experts and problem solve.
