Primavera introduces a new column type in the lists category. These days, new releases of Primavera P6 largely focus the development efforts on the Primavera P6 EPPM suite (the web version). This is not surprising; Primavera P6 professional is a very mature piece of software and pretty much everything that could be done to it has been done to it. However they have been providing some subtle improvements in the Primavera P6 Professional client too in recent releases. These haven’t been anything major, but nevertheless, really nice to have.
The one I want to talk about here is very simple. In version 16.1 Primavera introduced a new column type in the lists category.
Introducing Successor and Predecessor Details
Yes, after many years, Oracle Primavera have finally introduced a column for the successors, and a column for the predecessors that includes additional information about the type of relationship and any leads or lags.
To see these new columns we open the Columns dialog in the Activities tab.
We then choose the lists Category and move the Predecessor Details and Successor Details columns to the selected options list.
When we click on okay, we see the columns added to our table view. And the table area take a look at the different details that these columns give us concerning the relationships between the different activities. We can see not only the activity ID all the predecessor or the successor, but we also see the relationship type, and if there is a lag in play, that detail also appears.
Summary
This is a great enhancement to the Primavera P6 Professional client. Microsoft Project uses have been enjoying such fields for many years and now so can us Primavera P6 schedulers.
