This years PMI Global Congress will be held on the 1st– 3rd May 2017 in Italy, bringing together hundreds of project, program and portfolio mangers. The Project Management Institute (PMI) is a world leader in Project Management with over 2.9 million members from nearly every country of the world. There are over 270 chapters of PMI globally and this year’s congress will be held at one of the most advanced convention centers in the city of Rome…the Rome Cavalieri Resort Alberto Cadlolo 101, 00136 Rome, Itally.
The format for this years PMI Global Congress will focus on Educational Sessions built around the PMI Triangle of Leadership, Strategic and Business Management and Technical Project Management, Keynote Speakers, networking and SeminarsWorld.
There are over 55 sessions to choose from based around the PMI Triangle, each led by an industry professional designed to empower attendees and earn them PDU points. Below is a selection from each element of the PMI Triangle.
Thomas Mattus is president of Successful Strategies International, Inc. Thomas has worked with top industry leaders for companies like Marriott International, Sony, Standard Chartered Bank and Cablevision. His company specializes in project management and leadership development. Thomas will lead an interactive session on Strategic Communication embracing people, purpose, and partnerships for project success, looking at how understanding new technologies and communication tools can positively impact a project team.
Alfonso Bucero is Managing partner of Bucero PM Consulting and founder of the Barcelona Chapter in Spain. He worked for 13 years as a Senior Project Manager at Hewlett Packard in Spain. Alfonso is a PMI fellow who regularly contributes articles to the Project Management Institute. Alfonso will lead a session on How to Speak the Language Your Project Sponsors Understand, A Key for Project Success. The focus will be on best practices in order to develop positive relationships with project sponsors and become a successful Project Manager.
Strategic and Business Management
Luca Romano is Project Director of Nexan Business Consultants, a management-consulting firm within the Engineering Group. Luca is also Vice President of the central Italian Chapter of PMI. Luca specializes in defining strategies for professional development improvement in the Project/ Program/Portfolio Management field. Luca will lead a session on Lean Organization, Strategy and Portfolio Management. The focus of this session will be how to integrate Lean, Agile and Strategy execution.
Strategic and Business Management
Mike Frenette is the owner of Corvo Project Management. Mike has managed projects for both government and private industries and is a volunteer for PMI. Mike will lead a session on Project Failure or Organisation Failure? Common Causes and Solutions for Project Failure.
Technical Project Management
Americo Pinto Chairman at PMO Global Alliance, and Director of PMO Tools. Americo is also a professor and author of several PMO books. Americo will lead a session on How to Assess the Maturity of Your PMO. The focus on this session will be how to assess PMO maturity from a primary approach to a best practice.
Technical Project Management
Joy Gumz is Director of Project Auditors LLC. Joy travels the world as a project auditor, helping companies to identify ‘difficult’ areas on their projects before they become a real problem. Joy will lead a session on Avoiding Project Breakdown: A Tool to Measure Front-End Planning. The focus on this session will be the Project Definition Rating Index, what it is and how to implement it.
Gabor George Burt MBA in psychology is an internationally recognized expert on strategy, innovation, creativity and business development. His book “Slingshot” re-image your business, re-image your life has gained international recognition. Gabor is actively involved in shaping strategy with a group of international clients. Gabor will give his insight into how re-thinking business strategy can lead to new growth markets.
Magnus Lindkvist is a graduate of Stockholm School of Economics. He is a futurologist who follows trends in the business world. Magnus will give his insight into trend spotting and future thinking which allows him to forecast what the business world will look like in the future.
Formal networking is scheduled throughout the congress. Additionally, there are three networking tours available at a cost of $43.00.
- Tour 1 is a casual walk through Imperial Rome viewing the Colosseum.
- Tour 2 is a walk around the fountains and squares of Rome experiencing the ambiance of Rome.
- Tour 3 is a panoramic drive of Rome.
All tours will depart from the Cavalieri Resort by bus at 17.30. returning to the Resort at 20.00.
SeminarsWorld will be held after the congress at the Cavalieri Resort on 4th and 5th May. These sessions offer attendees enhanced learning after the congress through small groups and individual sessions from hands-on industry experts.
