Dashboards is a feature in Primavera P6 EPPM that displays various plots and tables of a portfolio of projects. The key is knowing how to create a portfolio so you know what projects you are looking at when the dashboards are displayed.
Dashboards are front and center in the Primavera P6 EPPM interface. They are first displayed when logging into P6 EPPM. Projects included in the specified portfolio are displayed in the tables, plots, and graphs defined in dashboards. Again, you will want to be able to create a portfolio for the dashboard filter, so you know what projects you are displaying.
This article briefly describes how to create a project portfolio in Primavera P6 EPPM Release 8.3.
Portfolios are created by selecting Portfolios tab down arrow and Manage Portfolios from the resulting drown down menu, Figure 1.

In the manage portfolios page select ‘create project portfolio’, Figure 2.

Also, toggle current user to make it available to the currently logged in user. Now it becomes simply a matter of selecting your desired projects in the EPS and clicking the right arrow to move the respective projects into the selected projects field.
Once your portfolio is generated select the dashboards tab, and then select the filter by button, Figure 4.

Click on user portfolios and select your newly created portfolio. Figure 5 displays the dashboard for our manually defined portfolio.

It is also possible to define a portfolio using a filter. In Figure 6 we create a portfolio filter that captures all projects that have a planned project status.

Again, we select the filter by button and our planned projects in filtered portfolios, Figure 7.

Summary
Primavera P6 EPPM Portfolios are a great way to access a manually specified list of projects or a filtered list of projects. Dashboards are set to filter by your portfolio of interest. Depending on the projects in your portfolio dashboard portlets can be defined to display a variety of project data.
