Deltek Cobra warning encountered when integrating Microsoft Project [Warning] Could not find a base result for . Cost data not loaded for this resource.
This warning will be encountered when integrating Microsoft Project (2007/2010/2013) XML files to a Deltek Cobra 5.n project when there is a period character suffix in the Microsoft Project resource name.
[Warning] Could not find a base result for . Cost data not loaded for this resource.
This warning will prevent the resource assignment being made in the Deltek Cobra and thus cause a shortfall in the budget values.
Details:
Periods in Microsoft Project resource names cause the Cobra integration wizard to drop all characters prior to the period.
This error was encountered using Microsoft Project 2o1o integrating with Deltek Cobra versions 5.01.2700.0159 and 5.01.3700.0294.
Examples:
- ‘John H.’ will be read into Cobra as ‘.’; the ‘John H’ part of the string is not read. The warning will read:[Warning] Could not find a base result for . Cost data not loaded for this resource.
- ‘John.Harper’ will be read into Cobra as ‘Harper’; the ‘John.’ part of the string is not read. The warning for this condition is slightly different than the previous example because there are some text characters for Cobra to try and match to an existing resource in the Cobra Resources ancillary file. The warning will read as follows:[Warning] Could not find resource code Harper or a parent in resource file.
Solution:
Under no circumstances should you use a period character anywhere in a Microsoft Project resource name. It is also advisable to avoid using special characters of any type in resource names when it will be integrated with Deltek Cobra.
