Deltek have just released wInsight Analytics 7.0 which is a huge update and as we’ve written about previously, involves a complete rewrite. It also sees the wInsight product being renamed to wInsight Analytics and can be used right along side the existing wInsight modules (6.5 or 6.51).
This new module offers data discovery capabilities using an associative model built using a 3rd party Business Intelligence (BI) engine. For example, what if your business wants to not only see the projects that have the highest cost variances, but also want to know if there is a correlation between project types and variances? wInsight Analytics 7.0 can easily answer this.
New Capabilities
This new capability can be delivered to the desktop, browser or mobile platforms all with the same appearance and dashboards. It also comes complete with out of the box dashboards which can be extended. There are two collections of dashboards one for single projects and the other for multi project analysis. These dashboards can be bookmarked and then shared with there users or even share sessions.
Extend, Extend, Extend
The graphical and tabular views of data can be extended in a number of ways:
- Add rules to validation criteria
- Bring in new tables during data load
- Bring in new fields
- Add columns to tables and filters
- Add new charts
- Add completely new tabs/dashboards
You can easily copy objects from other tabs or add new objects from scratch. There is a pretty extensive library of charts, tables and containers.
What Does It Look Like?
A picture says a thousand words so here are a few screen grabs of wInsight Analytics in action.
How Much?
If you’re wondering how much these new capabilities will cost, then there is good news! If you are an existing wInsight user with a current maintenance contract with Deltek, this upgrade is free of charge and it includes all 3rd party licensing (QlikView).
Summary
The new interface allows you to quickly visualize and discover project or program performance information. This translates into less time being spent running reports and more time assessing program performance. Being able to perform trend and forecast analysis more quickly and drill down to root cause of any problems makes wInsight Analytics a very attractive proposition.
