In the past month, we’ve encountered a strange problem when importing or exporting XML files using Primavera P6 EPPM. If you’ve had a similar problem importing or exporting a Primavera XML or Microsoft Project XML file into Primavera P6 EPPM and it seems to get stuck, then the solution below may help. What seems to happen is that the import or export doesn’t complete and it appears stuck in ‘Running’ status and simply does not complete.
If you’ve checked your log files, you should an error. This will be in the P6WebAccess.html log file.
Error getting setting: Services.ImportProject.ASAPCleanupRate Cannot find item: ASAPCleanupRate. Your configuration is out-of-date.
The error message does give us a clue that the problem lies with the configuration.
To fix this you will need to delete the configuration in the admin_config table and then create a new configuration. As always, you should make a backup of your database prior to running any database scripts. Here are the two steps you need to do to fix this problem.
1. Delete the configurations from admin_config. To do this you will need to use the following script:
delete from admin_config where congfig_type = ‘BRE’
2. Recreate the configuration:
Run the database configuration dbconfigpv.cmd from the P6HOME directory on the server machine, for example: C:\P6EPPM_1\p6. This will create a new configuration in the database.
This worked for us and if you are experiencing the same problem, this will address it for you too!
