If you are planning to go to the Oracle OpenWorld 2013 event next month, then no doubt you will be looking forward to learning more about the what’s coming up in the next releases of Primavera P6. At Ten Six, we excited at some of the things that Oracle are working on for the next release of Primavera P6 EPPM, R9.0.
We are expecting a new release of Primavera P6 EPPM (R9.0) in the next few months and below are some of the enhancements and improvements that we can all look forward to.
Resource Improvements
Resources will gain some much needed flexibility by allowing them to be entered at the EPS level. You will also have a level in-between Global and Project which will help avoid rate limitations and a full resource pool.
Security Enhancements
We will get support for security profiles that are more group based and rather than using the OBS, it will mimic the OBS used in Earned Value.
Business Intelligence Reports
Yes, this is a very welcome update. You will see more templates and sample reports which will give users more variety when starting to write their own custom reports.
Primavera Visualizer
Primavera Visualizer was first introduced earlier this year with R8.3 (you can read about it here) and it’s no surprise that this great product has been enhanced. Oracle will continue to focus on improving the capabilities of this new visualization platform, with the key word here being ‘platform’.
Improved Printing Capabilities
One of the key new features with printing give us the option to print without the bar chart. In addition, you can use calculations in you time-frames to avoid keep changing the timescale when you run reports. For example, you could chose the Data Date plus a number of days/weeks/months.
I hope this teaser gives you an idea of what we can expect in Primavera P6 EPPM R9.0 and also gives us all something to look forward to.
