Along with the new release of Primavera P6 R8.4, Oracle has also released Primavera P6 Analytics 3.4 with a slew of new features and capabilities. This new release offers new preconfigured dashboards as well as enhancements and usability improvements. Let’s take a look at whats new in it.
Mobile Dashboards – HTML5 Only
Primavera P6 Analytics 3.4 introduces a new mobile dashboard (without Java) designed for executives on the go. Offering interactive graphics, searching and filtering, these new dashboards are going to be popular with the head honchos.
Two different dashboards have been created, one for phones and the other for tablets. These were created using the mobile app designer in OBIEE.
Risks
The Risk page has been enhanced adding a new section and updating an existing one. The Detailed Risk by Location section has a new chart Open vs. Total Risks adding another summary view of Risk by Location.
The new section is called Detailed Risk by Project and offers drill down charts and tables designed to analyze project risks.
Activity Steps
Primavera P6 Analytics 3.4 now has the ability to drill right down to Activity Steps in the Project Health dashboard. New fields related to Activity Steps have been added and include:
- Unique Step ID
- Step Name
- Step Weight
- Weight Percent Complete
- Step Percent Complete
- Sequence Number
- Is Completed (Y/N)
New Expenses Section
The Project Health dashboard now boasts a new Expenses section which allows you to view planned, remaining and actual costs for individual projects. New fields in this section include:
- Unique Expense ID
- Expense Category Name
- Expense Item
- Expense Percent Complete
- Accrual Type
- Cost Account ID
- Cost Account Name
- Over Budget
- Unit of Measure
- Price Per Unit
- Vendor Name
Sorry – Administrators Only
A new sample dashboard for administrators allows you to see details about the ETL process and STAR configuration which includes P6 data sources and ETL performance. This dashboard also shows a Project list for each ETL data source.
Summary
What’s not to like in this release. Oracle has made solid improvements to Primavera P6 Analytics while also enhancing usability. No doubt most organizations will be putting this release in their upgrade plans sooner rather than later.
